Where the Resource Protection Area (RPA) is “Yes”, this
means that at least a portion of the property is regulated by the Chesapeake Bay
Preservation Act.
The RPA is a 100-foot vegetation buffer around water
and wetlands that flow into the
Chesapeake Bay.
According to the
York County Code, Section 23.2-9, “The purpose
of the buffer is to retard runoff, prevent erosion, and filter
nonpoint source pollution from runoff and it shall be retained if present and established
where it does not exist in accordance with the Buffer Guidelines.”
