description: The lakes feature class is a hydrographical layer that includes all natural and manmade water bodies in the County. The layer consists of any water body that could be digitized as a polygon, including lakes, ponds, and rivers. Rivers that are too narrow to create accurate polygons are digitized as arcs in the streams layers. BMP's (manmade retention ponds) are separated into Perennial and Intermittant based on the consistency of standing water covering 50% or more of the total basin area in the majority of aerial photography flight years.
